The California Science Center seeks an Exhibit Designer to lead the 3D design and production of engaging science exhibits on our internal exhibit development team.
Summary
The Exhibit Designer is a State of California civil service position under the classification Exhibit Designer/Coordinator. Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Exhibits, the Exhibit Designer is responsible for the conceptualization, design, execution, and project management of interactive, interpretive exhibits.
We are seeking a creative problem solver with a passion for designing experiential exhibits that support our mission to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone. In collaboration with curators, exhibit developers, graphic designers, and outside vendors, the Exhibit Designer plays a critical role in crafting fun, memorable, and human-centered experiences that tell inspiring science stories.
Position Requirements
- Possession of a degree in an art or exhibit related field.
- Four years of experience in exhibit or display work involving design, fabrication, and installation. Museum experience and experience with interactive exhibits are highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of exhibit design principles, experience using standard 3D and 2D design software, and a portfolio demonstrating strong design skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Salary and Benefits
This position pays a salary of $5,807 - $7,212/month and includes comprehensive benefits.
