Slow the Spread

Decades of science and medicine have given us several tried-and-true methods for reducing the spread of infectious diseases. Simple acts like wearing a mask, practicing physical distancing, and getting vaccinated all help slow the spread of COVID-19.

California Science Center staff members share why they got vaccinated

Vaccines are a safe and effective way to protect ourselves and our communities from COVID-19. But it's okay to have questions. California Science Center staff shared some of their reasons for getting vaccinated and how it feels to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Watch this video with audio descriptions.

The air you share

Every time you exhale, you expel tiny respiratory droplets from your mouth and nose. When a person with COVID-19 sneezes, coughs, speaks, or breathes, they unintentionally release virus‑containing droplets into the air and onto nearby surfaces.

Two men facing each other are coughing. The man on the left is not wearing a mask, and his respiratory droplets easily escape his mouth. The man on the right is wearing a mask, and his droplets are largely trapped near his face.
